I believe facebook is truly revolutionary. It takes almost every aspect of a social experience and places it online. That is something that has never been done before, therefore deserves the title of revolutionary. It covers everything from small chat to expression of thoghts and interests. It makes it possible to tell anyone you have in your "friends" anything and keep them updated on your life.
Recent innovations like the ipad dos not make things much different from the way they were before. It simply integrates more technologies into one.

I think the apple App store has its benefits and disadvantages.
Some of the benefits would be people no longer having to physically purchase the app from a store. They can now download various apps from the comfort of their own homes. In addition, the fact that the app store is online, it saves a lot of physical resources which would otherwise be needed to construct the program, therefore making apple Apps much more environmentally friendly and cheaper to produce.
On the offside ,however, a lot of piracy issues will arise. Online information is very easy to steal and hack. Hence, the Apple corporation may end up loosing money. In addition, this means that in case anything happens to the user's apps, they will not have it anywhere physically, so they can reinstall it. Therefore, they as well may ebd up losing money.

Design is one of the 6 sences. Products of the Apple corporation would be a goood example of an effective use of design. Their products are sleek and modern looking. Basically they gained popularity not because they have a lot of technical support or good product quality as it is, but because they looked good.
Ipods Ipads Macs etc are now becoming more and more widely used because they attract customers with their appealing visual characteristics. Therefore, as you can see, design is a very important marketing strategy which if used effectively, will earn the corporation a lot of money.

I belive that Sherry Turkle raises very valid points about modern communication technology. Infact, I can say that I completely agree with her views on it. Moderation is key, and that i sthe point she's trying to make. It's okay to use Twitter, Facebook and Blackberry if you are its owner, not the other way around. Comm Techs are wonderful. They let people exchange information n the amounts and speed in which it has never been possible to do before.
The probe starts when you consider your facebook account to be part of your identity, which is, unfportunately, often the case. Sherry states that nowadays it's pften "Ishare, therefore I am" instead of "I think, therefore I am". Essentially, the downside of commtechs is that they create the illusion that your identity is what other people know about you and can respond to, as oppposed to you kow yourself to be. If people can find the perfect balance between sharing and thinking and use commtechs as a tool to improve life, rather than being a way of life in itself, everything will be just fine.

Sure, privacy (or lack of it) is becoming a bigger and bigger issue in the information age. The idea of stalkers is unpleasant, but think of it this way. How much stalking do WE ourselves do? besides, if no one was to post private information online, social networking would have been extinct and the web itself would not be functioning very well. I believe we have to give up information to the web so we can GAIN information in return.
If you don't like people stalking you on facebook, change your privacy settings, or even better, don't reguster AT ALL. Facebook goes to ridiculous extents in order to prevent its users from deleting information which can get pretty frustrating, but it also allows for friends to actively stay in touch. From personal experience, emailing gets tiring and eventually both sides just stop, but facebook doesn't, thus narrowing the distance gap between two friends. I think posting a picture or two and giving some kind of personal information to the system in exchange for this social experience is pretty fair game.

" Power is not only what you have, but what an opponent thinks you have. If your organization is small, hide your numbers in the dark and raise a din that will make everyone think you have many more people than you do."
Image is always important. You are what you make of yourself what you seem as to other people. It is human nature to look down on weaknesses and although they are good to disclose around your friends, in a business environment they will work against you. The less weaknesses you appear to have, the more respect and power you will get. Therefore, I completely agree with this statement. By simply not telling anyone the reality of your situation, you are playing on their own insecurities, making them doubt themselves and feel inferior.
Business truly is survival of the fittest. The fitter you appear, the better-off you'll be. If you're not one to get involved in image and number games, then stay away from this industry because essentially that's all it is. Nothing more and sadly everything less.
*lab 7) physical classrooms vs e-learning
Of course e-learning has its advantages and disadvantages. First of all, e-learning does not require physical presence of the student in the classroom. Therefore, it leaves them with a lot more flexibility to create their own schedule and work pace because they have much less time restraints. In addition, it is a huge economy of resources which would be required to create a real classroom. It occupies no physical space. Furthermore, it enables teh student to not miss any material because there is no timing expectation they have to meet. They can just get up whenever they do, log on, and start learning in their pajamas, not having to worry about "the material they've missed".
On the other hand, e-learning has a lot of disadvatages. It's very impersonal, therefore makes it incerdibly difficult to interact with the teachjer in case of an arising question and makes it almost impossible to do group work. In addition, it takes away the opportunity of building connections and making friends with the other students and teacher. E-learning also makes it difficult for the student to commit to doing work because there is no space or time expectation that they are forced to meet, therefore they are more likely to slack off, droup out/fail.
Overall, I am against the idea of e-learning. I believe learning has to be a personal experience, not staring at a computer screen.

Internet piracy? Should it be dealt with and if not, then what?
Ok here's the thing. HOW can you possibly deal with piracy? People will keep coming up with new ways to download stuff "illegaly". Personally i think the whole piracy control thing is bs because record companies and the film industry earn ENOUGH money. Their argument that piracy destroys innovation is once again bs because NOTHING can destroy innovation. People will keep creating just because that's what they do, that's what they LIKE to do. I think they just need to suck it up because that's just the way things are now and find alternative ways to earn money (not that they don't make billions already even with internet piracy being "an issue").
In addition, why in the world would you sue a teenager, who downloads music illegaly? WHY? WHYYY? He's simply a consumer. The content is THERE on the web, why pay money and not make use of it? Plus "internet piracy" is so popular at this point in time, that nothing can be done to stop it really. People will get pissed if someone tries and find even trickier ways to gain access to free content on the web. Overall, I don't think anything can be done about it and the record and movie industries need to simply suck it up and work with it. They already get paid too much for very little effort.
